Mindful Monday

Why Do We Compete Instead of Connect?

What drives us to tear each other down when we’re all just trying to make it through life? In the end, aren’t we all just human? Aren’t we all flawed and fragile? So why the pride? The judgment? The disrespect?

Same race – human. Same fears. Same struggles and longings. Same need to be seen, heard, and loved.

We’ve gotten so used to dividing and comparing that we’ve forgotten the power of connecting. Of building up instead of tearing down.

The truth is: we have far more in common than we do in conflict…. Isn’t it time to act like it. Let’s stop fighting for a spotlight and hurting each other in the process. Starting today, can we trade competition for compassion, and begin connecting with what makes us human?

“Are You a Safe Space for Others?”

IF: someone shares a secret with you in confidence, isn’t it your duty to keep it? Maybe this is why we hold back our true selves; it’s hard to find trustworthy people.

Easy Money, Hard Consequences—Is It Worth It?

Obtaining possessions through unethical means can put you at risk for short-term rewards, but ethical living can safeguard your long-term well-being. Nowadays, there’s a proliferation of get-rich-quick schemes and illegal activities such as hacking, identity theft, cheating, trafficking, embezzlement, tax evasion, and insurance fraud, just to name a few.

These actions can, and often do result in imprisonment. What’s the point of striving if, in the end, you have littleto show for your endeavors? Whatever happened to earning an honest living while still being able to enjoy life freely?

Here’s to hard work and the benefits of an honorable living.

Fitness Friday

Think Exercise Has to Be a Grind? Think Again.

A good workout doesn’t have to happen in a gym. You don’t need a treadmill, a fancy track, or a membership card to get moving. In fact, if those things make you dread exercise, skip them! Movement should feel like a natural part of life: not punishment.

Everyday activities count more than you think. Gardening, walking your dog, dancing in your living room, riding a bike, swimming, playing a round of golf, or even giving your car a good wash. All of these can get your heart rate up and your body moving.

Your sneakers don’t have to keep gathering dust. The key is to move often and enjoy it. Try new things. Mix it up. Turn on your favorite playlist and dance. Take the scenic route on your walk. Make movement something you look forward to.

Your body will thank you, your energy will rise, and your mood will shift. You don’t have to follow someone else’s routine. Create your own by finding what works for you, and keep moving.
